Chapter 1: Basic Items and Uses
Adder barrack ~ Toothaches
Alfalfa ~ Chewed, then swallowed to help tooth decay
Aloe Vera ~ Leaves are chewed and spit on burns, or skin problems
Blessed Thistle ~ Increases circulation of blood
Borage Leaves ~ Lessens fever
Bramble twig syrup ~ Helps to sleep
Broken Rosemary Blossoms~ Used to heal eye infection or to cover up wounds around the eyes or eyelids.
Broom Poultices ~ Helps broken legs and other serious wounds
Broom Malice Poultices ~ heals open wounds
Burdock Root ~ Helps stop infection from rat bites
Buttonbush Down~ Used to help urine problems, and constipation.
Catnip ~ Helps stop greencough
Celandine~ You rub it on aching eye, and it the aching will go away
Chamomile ~ Helps with depression, fatigue, and soothes heart.
Chaparral ~ helps clean faces (acne)
Chervil~ juice of the leaves for infected wounds and chewing the root is good for bellyache.
Chewed Gumweed~ Used to help seal wounds from infection. It will slightly sting, and helps to collect the skin together and close quicker.
Chickweed~ cures some of green and black cough
Cobwebs ~ Helps cover a wound from infection or from bleeding
Coltsfoot ~ an herb that eases coughing
Comfrey Roots~ Chew and rub on wounds and it deep cleans them
Crushed Iris Petals~ Used to stimulate breathing during the birthing process. This can also be used for kit’s sore throats
Crushed Marigold Petals~ Used to protect against infection of serious wounds, avoid around eyes, for it can be irritating.
Crushed Pawpaw Roots~ Used for kitten cough, which threatens only kittens.
Crushed rose thorns ~ Helps seal the wound
Culver’s Root~ Used when a cat takes a dip in some sort of water. Use with Feverfew.
Daisy Leaves~ Chewed, they help aching joints?
Deathberries ~ Kills a cat
Ferns ~ Cleans out wounds
Feverfew~ Used when a kit, or any cat for that matter, has a fever.
Foxglove Cloves~ Used to purge toxins from the body. Will force you to throw up the toxins.
Foxglove Leaves ~ Used on deep wounds to stop bleeding quickly
Garlic ~ Fleas, and some scratches
Garlic Juice~ Dripped into wounds to prevent infection. Will cause slight stinging sensation when used.
Ginger ~ asthma and coughs
Goldenrod Juice~ Dripped into wounds to relieve the tingling or pain sensation. It does nothing to heal, but numbs the pain.
Grass ~ Used for upset stomach
Hawthorne Berries ~ Indigestion (Very similar looking to death berries, jut without the shininess)
Honey~ Helps herbs go down easier and soothes throats and infections
Horsetail ~ chewed, it stops infections
Huckleberry+Goldenrod ~ muscle reliever
Ivy juices ~ Calms
Juniper Berries ~ Helps with stomach ache
Lavender ~ For a chill
Lavender Stem~ Used to calm a cat in shock
Marigold~ soothes infections
Marigold leaves ~ Dresses wounds
Mouse Bile ~ Helps rid of fleas and ticks; placed in moss
Milkweed Juice~ Used for sores or burns. Do not use around eyes or ears. Poisonous if ingested.
Narcissus Flower Petals~ used when a she-cat has contractions. Helps soothe their minds
Nightshade ~ poisonous plant
Peathingy Flower Petals~ Used to help a kit with kitten cough. Will help to clear clogged throats and nasal passages
Poppy Seeds ~ Helps lessen pain and helps a cat sleep.
Rosinweed~ Used to clean out the system when poisons have been digested. (Will happen during “relieving yourself”.)
Sacred bark ~ used for upset stomach
Sage Roots~ Used for cracked pads, especially on elder cats. Use with Poppy seeds
Shock Roots~ uses to stimulate the nerves system. Use after a cat has been knocked out, poisoned, or head trauma.
Snapdragon Seeds~ Used to clear up ringworm and to help rid the body of fleas
Stinging Nettle: stops swelling
Tansy ~ Helps with coughing
Thinned Out Heather Down~ Used to help with the indigestion of a kit. It will help to line a kit’s stomach, and absorb the juices that produce the uncomfortable feeling.
Thyme~ Good for calming anxieties

Poppy Seeds- Used to help dull the hunger, or pain in your paws.
Tansy Leaves- Used to keep your hunger at bay
Crushed Lotus Roots- Used to help keep you awake, so that you will not fall asleep. (Energizer)
Skullcap Seeds- Used to give you extra strength. (Acts like a steroid)
Witch Hazel~ Used when you need an extra "boost". If you're tired, and have to travel, this will wake you up. (Energizer)//

~Medicine cat apprentices must travel to the moonstone with their mentors and be accepted by StarClan to be an official Med. cat apprentice.
~Medicine cats are often treated with less hostility than others when in another clan's territory
~Medicine cats may not have kits
~Medicine cats should always know when another cat gets a sign from StarClan
~Only a medicine cat can determine what a sign from StarClan means
~Medicine cats and apprentices travel to the moonstone every half-moon
~Med. cat apprentices can be a medicine cat even before the original is deceased. The mentor will chose when the apprentice is ready
